The Roof of Amsterdam

This year the spire on the roof of the Nieuwe Kerk Amsterdam will be restored. A large platform will be placed on the roof for this restoration. As part of 750 years Amsterdam, the public will have the unique opportunity to climb the roof of this monument for an unforgettable view of our capital.

To the top in 216 steps

The unique experience starts with the route to the roof. Visitors enter a 17th-century stairwell on Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. This entrance was originally built for a 115 meter high tower, which was never completed. You reach the platform on the roof via a temporary scaffolding staircase.

At the top, visitors can view the crossing tower and admire the Amsterdam skyline. Highlights include Westerkerk, Central Station, the Royal Palace Amsterdam and modern icons such as Zuidas and the A’DAM Tower. Visitors leave the platform via a second temporary staircase on Dam Square.
