Step into the world of Vincent van Gogh and Pokémon. To introduce everyone to Van Gogh’s works, the museum has entered into a collaboration (in honour of the museum’s 50th anniversary) with Pokémon.
Inspiration for six paintings
Six paintings from the permanent Van Gogh Museum’s permanent collection provided the inspiration artists have made of Pokémon. For example, you see Pikachu in work inspired by Self-Portrait with a Gray Felt Hat (1887), the Pokémon Sunflora is hidden in a variation on Van Gogh’s famous Sunflowers (1889), and you see Snorlax and Munchlax relaxing in work inspired by The Bedroom (1888). The six paintings can be admired on the first floor of the Rietveld building.
Pokémon Adventure scavenger hunt
In addition to the exhibitions, you can do many more things in the museum—the Pokémon Adventure treasure hunt (suitable for children six years and older). The treasure hunt is available in Dutch and English; you can pick it up at the information desk in the Atrium. Give free rein to your creativity and create your own version of Pikachu using the” Draw Your Own Pikachu” video.
